Position: Senior Accountant for Senior Living

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Full-time, 1.0 FTE

Location: Hybrid, would have regular travel to St. Louis Park office

Wage starting at $38 an hour, depending on experience

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial records of certain of Lifespark's business units, including journal entry preparation and posting, month end close ownership, account reconciliations, financial reviews and various other accounting responsibilities. Additionally, they will work closely with our broader accounting team to ensure we are collaboratively and optimally supporting our business partners. This person will also be responsible for completing monthly and/or other project tasks as assigned, and seeking out and implementing process improvement opportunities.

Position Functions and Responsibilities

End to end ownership of the accounting functions specific to assigned Lifespark business units, including, but not limited to:



  • Journal entry preparation and posting
  • Monthly account reconciliation preparation and documentation
  • Month end analytical reviews of revenue and expenses
  • All other month end close processes for assigned business units


  • Collaborate with accounts payable on invoicing, accruals, and prepaid expenses to ensure financial transactions are captured accurately and timely
  • Oversee and support Lifespark's travel and entertainment expense reimbursement program, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company policy
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities within the accounting team to increase efficiency and/or better support business partners
  • Maintain adequate and consistent documentation to support financial statements, account reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Support year end audit, tax preparation, and compliance needs, including timely and accurate workpaper preparation and other ad hoc requests as applicable.
  • Research open accounting and compliance issues, document findings, and identify solutions to those issues
  • Support the Treasury function by processing and entering bank transactions
  • Other duties may include:

    • Other general ledger account reconciliations, as assigned
    • Actively participating in or leading implementation projects
    • Other duties as assigned




Qualifications

Experience & Education



  • Minimum of 5 years in accounting or related field
  • Healthcare experience preferred, ideally in a care management or facility management setting
  • Intermediate understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Technical understanding of financial systems including EMR's and ERP's
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
