About the role:

As a Senior Legal Counsel providing business unit support for the Electrophysiology and Peripheral Interventions businesses located in the Twin Cities, you will work with the respective business unit Legal Directors to provide practical, sound, and timely legal advice and solutions to your clients. Your experience as a legal generalist will influence a broad spectrum of matters, including contracting, advertising and promotion, regulatory, quality and healthcare compliance, health economics and market access, HIPAA, and specified corporate projects. You will also assist in certain aspects of transactional (M&A) work. You will coordinate with other Legal Department personnel (e.g., employment, privacy, litigation, compliance, and intellectual property counsel) to provide seamless support to the businesses. The Electrophysiology business offers minimally invasive devices for diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. The Peripheral Interventions business offers minimally invasive therapies for peripheral artery disease, venous disease, vessel trauma, and cancer.

Your responsibilities will include:




  • Evaluate commercial legal risk and communicate effective risk assessments, including mitigation opportunities and effective implementation
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and support to the business functions, including Marketing, Sales, Health Economics and Market Access, Regulatory, and Quality
  • Provide guidance on and review of sales & marketing programs, promotional pieces, and product literature
  • Offer advice and support on business transactions, including preparation, review, and negotiation of agreements in a variety of areas, including supply, distribution, consulting, and research
  • Support new business development by conducting due diligence and supporting integration of acquired companies
  • Collaborate with international legal colleagues to support the division's commercial initiatives globally
  • Collaborate with Global Compliance on the content and implementation of various Company policies and procedures, as well as sales force interactions with healthcare providers and patients
  • Develop and provide training to division employees on relevant legal topics
  • Keep current on relevant legislative issues, laws, decisions, and regulations affecting the medical device industry
  • Engage as a proactive, self-assured professional with high personal integrity and ability to develop good interpersonal relationships
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, with superior communication, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
  • Able to be self-reliant with a willingness to "own" issues and creatively identify and implement solutions



Required qualifications:




  • Juris Doctorate, with admission to practice law in at least one state and an outstanding academic record
  • 5+ years of experience



Preferred qualifications:




  • Demonstrated ability to gain commitment across multiple or global groups
  • Combined private practice and in-house experience, preferably with experience working within medical device, pharma, healthcare, or other regulated industry
  • Superior organization, facilitation, collaboration, and presentation skills with ability to synthesize information gathered from a wide range of sources to provide objectively sound risk assessments to stakeholders
  • Transactional, preferably M&A, and complex contract drafting experience
