DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Scripps Innovation Programs include startup competitions, seminars, workshops, conferences, competitions, and accelerator programs. Current program examples include the Triton Innovation Challenge and StartBlue accelerator. StartBlue is an accelerator from Scripps Institution of Oceanography & Rady School of Management that supports the formation of advanced science and engineering startups tackling ocean-focused challenges and solutions integrated into science, industry, investment, and government networks. We focus on fostering innovation in ocean climate resilience technology, aiding startups from conception to commercialization. Our mission is to drive advancements that contribute to sustainable ocean management and climate resilience.

DESCRIPTION

Coordinates, supports, and implements innovation programs for Scripps Institution of Oceanography Director of Corporate Affiliates, Business Development, Industry Outreach, & Innovation (CABDIOI).

Supports Scripps Oceanography's innovation programs, including seminars, pitch competitions, conferences, workshops, and accelerator programs. Provides administrative support to ensure the smooth execution of these programs, which aim to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the blue tech sector. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the program directors, faculty, and staff to coordinate logistics, communicate with stakeholders, and provide general administrative support.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least two (2) years of experience in program coordination, preferably within a startup accelerator, incubator, or similar entrepreneurial environment.

  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, event planning, and marketing.

  • Passion for sustainability, ocean technology, and climate resilience initiatives.

  • Proficient in digital marketing, outreach, and social media management.

  • Acquiring knowledge about University and industry research pertaining to specific industry alliance program.

  • Solid communication skills including verbal, written, and active listening. Natural political acumen and social perceptiveness.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills. Ability to develop working relationships within department, among campus research staff and industry partners. Demonstrated customer service orientation.

  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Takes initiative.

  • Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to use software applications specific to industry alliance.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team setting.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Job offer contingent upon successful completion of a background check.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
