Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

The Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology is seeking a highly qualified person for the

position of Research Instructor.

The candidate will have a PhD, MD or DVM and several years of experience in biomedical research and

expertise in pharmacology or a relevant related field with a PhD degree in biomedical science or a

related field (e.g. pharmacology, toxicology, physiology, cell biology, chemistry, etc.). Extensive

experience working with mouse models is required. They will be adept with molecular genetic

techniques, cell culture, biochemistry and genetics using mouse models of metabolic disease. This

person will work with a team of investigators examining mechanisms of disease and testing novel

therapies for diseases. Experience administering compounds, including survival surgeries implanting

mini-pumps, and performing PK, PD, and tissue distribution studies in the mouse is needed. The

candidate will perform research, be primarily responsible for training others in the lab to perform

molecular biology and mouse experiments, and assist with developing protocols and planning experiments.
