3D Cad Technician- Capital Foot & Ankle

Responsible for the creation and modification of Orthotic drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software. Works closely with Physicians and Pedorthist to create 3D drawings of orthotic casts to include measurements, pain points and other custom components, assemblies and systems. Ensures that all drawings meet CFA standards and specifications. Maintains drawing files and archives.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

2. *Collaborates with Physicians and Pedorthist for seamless product integration; establishes efficient processes for new orthotics, ensuring updated manufacturing documentation with suppliers for prompt material delivery.

3. *Boosts manufacturing efficiency and quality, addressing production challenges and partnering with software vendor and pedorthist to create the best orthotic.

4. *Applies expertise in product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials. Engages with Pedorthist and Physician, suppliers, and equipment vendors for optimal outcomes.

5. *Enhances the manufacturing process based on observations, Pedorthist feedback, and performance metrics.

6. *Designs test methods, evaluates finished products and processes, sets standards, and validates manufacturing processes to ensure top-notch quality.

7. Provides vital manufacturing insights by assessing production, labor and material costs, reviewing schedules, and forecasting future needs.

8. *Compiles and analyzes data to produce comprehensive reports on product and process trends.

9. Ensures equipment functionality by coordinating maintenance, adhering to manufacturer guidelines, and seeking specialized services when necessary.

10. Engages with suppliers for quotes, evaluating component manufacturability with CNC machining and orthotics.

11. Collaborates with CAD design function to transition early-stage concepting into cost-effective manufacturing and sourcing.

12. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

13. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

14. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Biological Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or Engineering required.

One (1) year of experience with rapid-prototyping and volume manufacturing processes including CNC machining, and orthotic manufacturing required. Experience with manufacturing process flow design preferred.
