Recycling Specialists are responsible for prospecting and supporting new commercial and industrial business growth as well as retaining and increasing current customer recycling business to grow tonnage at the Recycling facility. This position requires cold calling on commercial and industrial accounts in the field to generate new recycling volume for the Rumpke Recycling and Resource Center. The hours and level of responsibility may vary by location or line of business.

Responsibilities of Position:



  • Secure new recycling business from the following:

    • Multi-family homes
    • Businesses
    • Municipalities
    • Special Events
    • Seasonal Activities


  • Support new business and maintain existing relationships with existing large commercial and industrial generators of recycling materials.
  • Identifies leads, manages prospects, and support acquiring new business.
  • Cultivate existing customers' recyclable volumes from commercial, retail, and industrial accounts.
  • Prospect and develop recycling opportunities for all material or commodity types (i.e. OCC, office paper, mixed, co-mingled, aluminum, glass, etc.)
  • Coordinate efforts with hauling and recycling operations to pinpoint and service existing high-volume recycling opportunities.
  • Routinely interacts and meets with Recycling Manager or Supervisor.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of Rumpke's services and pricing structure.
  • Determines customer needs and proposes appropriate service needs.
  • Meets or exceeds the new business goals of tons to the Recycle facility.
  • Conducts cold call and prospecting activities that result in scheduled first appointments and follow-up appointments with decision-makers at businesses and/or contractor sites which could require customers "boots and jeans" as well as "suits and ties".
  • Ensure all lead source business opportunities are quoted profitably.
  • Prepares and delivers sales proposals/presentations to key decision-makers that result in closing the sale.
  • Proposes customer solutions that are compliant with appropriate local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Utilizes the company's CRM tool daily, scheduling and documenting activities, and developing prospective customer profiles.
  • Supports sales team in gaining customer service agreements for new and existing recycle business.
  • Submits and reviews accuracy reports and other paperwork in a timely manner and in accordance with Company policy.
  • Develops and maintains an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends and responds accordingly.
  • Attends meetings regularly with Sales Manager to review weekly sales activities, progress on goals, and status of prospective customers.
  • Attends weekly sales meetings.
  • Periodically sets up and conducts tours of the Recycling and Resource Center for potential and current customers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:



  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Highly motivated individual who is a self-starter with professional demeanor and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals.
  • TEAM player acting as an advocate for the customer while maximizing operational efficiency working as an expert in the field to assist field reps on recycling opportunities to drive additional tons of recycling.
  • Possess strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills. Must present and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills.
  • Possess proven analytical/problem-solving solutions for the customer and the company.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to perform tasks in an occasionally challenging environment, including inclement weather, possible loud noise, and uneven pavement at the construction site.



Physical Requirements in a Regular workday:



  • Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10lbs.
  • Occasionally working outside in changing temperature, wet/humid conditions.
  • Occasionally working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, other airborne matter.
  • Continuously sitting/standing/walking in office environment.



Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:



  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language.

Qualifications
Education
High School (required)
Bachelors of Relevant field (preferred)
Experience
Experience in developing and executing territory sales strategies. (required)
Rrecycling/waste industry experience and/or working with contractors. (preferred)
Previous cold calling experience. (required)
1 years: Experience in a customer-facing sales role (business to business). (required)
2 years: Outside business-to-business sales with a proven track record of success. (required)
