THE ROLE: Technical Specialist, Managed Services

Job Summary:

As a Technical Specialist, Managed Services, you will work in the Managed Service group as a proactive and reactive network engineer.

Travel Requirements:

This position does not require any travel. It will be based in the Carolinas. This role is 100% remote.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Daily queue management to ensure tickets are worked, updated, and resolved according to documented processes
  • Daily participation in Managed Services phone queue
  • Work reactive, proactive and/or tech alignment tickets
  • Participate in problem management and seek opportunities for proactive services
  • Create and generate tickets when tasks and actions are identified. Escalate and/or complete work
  • React, investigate and remediate warning alerts and data in customer environments
  • Document changes in customer environment or maintenance schedule in appropriate Knowledge Base(s)
  • Participate in administration, maintenance, and/or optimization of Managed Services tools
  • Participate in continual education in technology vertical(s) to stay in sync with tech advancements, changes, and updates to Standards
  • Perform routine audits using the checklist of standards and verification checklists to find short coming based on documented standards
  • Participate in Business Reviews where you are lead engineer
  • Participate in on call rotations
  • Effectively communicate information to responsible individuals at proper intervals:

    • Business Alignment - all technical findings, analysis results, opportunities uncovered, and recommendations
    • Sales Teams - secondary to the Business Alignment Manager, some urgent findings should go directly to the sales account team
    • Managed Services Team - updates, knowledge share, of any and all kind
    • Managing Consultant - daily commendations from customers, escalations, customer satisfaction issues or challenges


  • Collaborate with Delivery team to align new implementations, recent project migrations and conduct Technical Reviews
  • Execute tasks assigned by Managing Consultant and/or Managers


Required Skills:



  • Career working with Cisco and Palo Alto technologies
  • 5-10 years of experience with the following technologies preferred:

    • Cisco 9800 Wireless Controllers and APs or equivalent older models
    • Cisco Switching
    • Cisco FTDs
    • Cisco DNA
    • Cisco ISE
    • Palo Alto Firewalls


  • Has experience working in IT operations environment
  • Understands and can follow service management methodology such as ITIL

  • Professional approach to work and customers


Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and/or military experience
  • Over 8 years experience in IT Networking
