JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Farrell Center for Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Smeal College of Business is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Relationship Advisor. This pivotal role will report directly to the Director of the Farrell Center and will lead the development, coordination, and implementation of the Center's hallmark program, Propel Business: New Venture & Innovation Program (Propel). Additionally, the successful candidate will serve as the Administrator of the Propel Business Seed Fund, a targeted $5M+ student-run early-stage investment fund.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Develop and implement key program initiatives, including the Propel Business Advisory Network.

  • Venture Funding Leadership: Lead Propel's venture funding offerings and serve as the Administrator of the Propel Business Seed Fund.

  • Collaboration: Support the Smeal Development Office with ongoing programming and initiatives related to Propel.

  • Resource Oversight: Oversee the development and maintenance of resources available to students and alumni.

  • Research and Development: Supervise innovation research and development that enhances real-life learning opportunities for students and alumni.

  • Educational Engagement: Engage with courses and educational programs focused on entrepreneurial finance and venture funding.

Additional Duties:

  • Develop and oversee new initiatives and operations of existing initiatives under Propel.

  • Report to relevant Farrell Center, Smeal, and University stakeholders.

  • Promote Propel and its programming initiatives to various audiences.

  • Serve as the primary contact for current and prospective Propel clients regarding available resources and support services.

Relationships:

This role will collaborate with personnel across the college and university, including but not limited to:

  • Office of Investment Management

  • Office of General Counsel

  • University Development Teams

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions regarding flexible work arrangements should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process. This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of refunding.

Qualifications:

This position will be filled at the Senior Professional level and require a bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven experience in complex investment management, valuation, governance, and process oversight is essential, given the complexity of the Administrator role for the $5M investment fund.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$86,300.00 - $129,500.00
