Job Overview

The IT Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, and monitoring of critical IT systems keeping the systems functioning in a stable and secure operational mode. Ensures system requirements are established and maintained for operations development, security requirements definition, systems risk assessment, systems analysis, systems design, systems test and evaluation, certification and accreditation, systems hardening, vulnerability testing, and scanning, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and provides analytical support for policy development and analysis; will interface with external entities including vendors and other organizations and agencies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots and performs root cause analysis on systems issues to ensure quick service restoration of problems as per best practices
  • Designs and develops new systems, applications, and solutions for enterprise-wide systems and networks and assists in the documentation of processes, procedures, and resolution information
  • Integrates and supports new and existing architectural features into infrastructures, implements artifacts, provides analysis of system features and relates existing systemapplications, and security to future needs and trends, provides engineering recommendations, and resolves integration and testing issues
  • Evaluates existing network systems and plans short-term strategies to ensure IT capacity meets current and future network requirements
  • Conduct feasibility studies on tactical plans
  • Performs technical analysis of software, hardware, and systems, systems engineering for front-end processors, multiplexors, LAN, WAN communications, network nodes, switches, and various transmission systems
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Previous experience in IT Systems

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge acquired through 1 to up to 3 years of work experience
