Summary of Job Duties:The Physical Therapy Assistant will deliver direct, evidence-based therapy to children with gross motor challenges. Responsibilities include assessing and treating deficits in muscle tone, strength, balance, range of motion, and locomotion, with ongoing adjustments to individualized treatment plans. The role requires meticulous documentation of services provided and accurate preparation of billing paperwork in line with KIDS FIRST and Medicaid requirements. Collaboration with families, medical professionals, and support staff is essential to ensure the best possible care and developmental outcomes. The ideal candidate will also empower families to actively participate in their child's progress through Family Centered Care principles. Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Physical Therapy required.

  • Current and valid licensure by the Arkansas State Board of Physical Therapy as a Physical Therapist Assistant or eligible to apply for licensure.

  • Current Arkansas license or eligible to apply and obtain license within one month of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate computer proficiency level.

  • Excellent communication skills with adults and children.

  • Must have the ability to function as a healthcare team member and operate within an interprofessional team.

  • Two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors progress and makes modifications to treatment plan as needed.

  • Documents services provided in a professional, timely manner.

  • Carefully, prepares and provides billing documents according to KIDS FIRST and Medicaid guidelines on a weekly basis.

  • Verifies accuracy billing documents through careful review of progress notes, treatment room sign-out forms, and child's individual prescription requirements.

  • Collaborates and communicates with families, other therapists, nurses, social workers, director, developmental staff, and contractors to provide the best quality of care and optimal outcomes for each child.

  • Encourages families to take an active role in supporting their child's development using the principles of Family Centered Care.

  • Participates in the training of students and pre-service professionals, education and outreach to stakeholders, families served, and community partners. May include training and participation in research projects or other duties as assigned.

  • Ensures minimum requirements to maintain state and professional licensure.

  • Maintains knowledge of theories and techniques in the field of gross motor delays/disorders.

  • Monitors the field of gross motor related issues as it relates to muscle tone, reflexes, strength, balance, range of motion, locomotion delays/disorders and/or potential orthopedic concerns to ensure knowledge of best practice.

  • Ensures work schedules met, arrives at work on time, reports to assigned area promptly, requests vacation and non-emergency sick leave in advance, and minimizes unplanned absences.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
