The Rights & Permissions Associate at Amplify will support the development of engaging and meaningful materials that delight our young learners and their teachers, inside and outside of the classroom. As a member of Amplify's Rights and Permissions Team you will partner with a diverse cross-functional team of designers, project managers, and curriculum experts to develop Amplify's curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

The Rights & Permissions Associate will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of clearing, licensing, and reporting on assets (texts, images, videos, fonts, etc.) that Amplify's content teams want to incorporate into their products.

This will include:

  • Working closely and interacting regularly with the content teams on

  • Understanding their budget and usage requirements for development projects

  • Researching copyright ownership for imagery, text, videos, etc.

  • Obtaining permissions from copyright holders and signatures from Amplify's signatories as needed

  • Seeking fee approvals from division leads and processing invoices from copyright holders

  • Maintaining an extensive permissions tracker in a Google spreadsheet format

  • Tracking costs, license information and credits

  • Obtaining publication quality files from copyright holders

  • Working closely and interacting regularly with the Rights and Permissions Manager on

  • Aligning to the requirements set by the Rights and Permissions team for licensing

  • Performing relevant ad-hoc duties as outlined by the Rights and Permissions Manager such as:

  • Royalty Reporting

  • Auditing permissions

  • Updated Acknowledgements

  • Communicating proactively with colleagues

  • Working independently and collaboratively

  • Participating in virtual meetings

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5+ years experience with inbound licensing of assets (text and image)

  • Experience with creating and editing Google Docs and Google Spreadsheets

  • Basic knowledge of Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite and Google Suite

  • Working knowledge of legal concepts related to licensing

  • Excellent communication (written and oral)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA in Communications, Publishing, Business or similar area preferred

  • Experience licensing texts for inclusion in larger works, e.g. textbooks

  • Experience in licensing for use in all types of media platforms

  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) tools

  • Prior negotiating experience a plus

Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this role is $30.00-$40.00.
