Duties and Responsibilities
This position reports directly to the Associate Dean for Research, and will engage the school, its faculty, staff and doctoral students in strategic research advancement, communication of research and research opportunities, enhancement of collaboration/team science and proposal support functions to impact research and scholarship. These efforts will include guiding and mentoring faculty, staff, and doctoral students in their efforts to develop and submit proposals to external and internal funding opportunities and promote growth in SSW's external funding from both traditional and non-traditional granting agencies (Including foundations and corporations to further their corporate social responsibility initiatives and promotion of social justice.)
Master's or doctoral degree in related social or health sciences; 3-5 years of documented experience and success in advancement and/or sponsored programs in higher education; administrative experience in higher education in working with faculty in research development-related activities.
* Engage with faculty to develop research career plans for all career stages and guide faculty through strategizing and implementing processes
* Oversee the pre-award process including developing faculty skills in funding opportunity identification, dissemination of information regarding availability of funding opportunities; works closely with ORS- SPA
* Review proposal content and budgets for compliance with university and sponsor policies under the supervision of ADR and/or Business Manager
* Review and negotiate contracts, awards and sub-contracts including recommendation of appropriate language and terms under the supervision of ADR and/or Business Manager
* Serve as the SSW's Internal Grants Administrator
* Provide consultation on a wide variety of policies and issues regarding research advancement, and preparing, conducting and/or administrating sponsored projects
* Be proficient in, and provide consultation on, the use of the grants and contracts electronic systems utilized by LUC or available external systems that support the School, faculty, staff, and/or doctoral students.
* Serve as liaison between SSW and LUC Offices of Sponsored Projects Administration and the Vice Provost for Research and interactions with counterparts across the larger University
* Coordinate efforts with the Advancement office for corporate and foundation relations efforts for research
* Develop appropriate policies and procedures in consultation with the Dean, ADR, and faculty
* Maintain records of grants related activities and provide reports, as needed. Lead with oversight and development of the annual LUC/ SSW IMPACT Review.
* Develop an annual budget for the operation of the LUC/ SSW ORD with the Dean
* Guide faculty and doctoral students in the preparation of Fulbright applications and other sponsored fellowships
* Mentor doctoral students in their pursuit of grants and opportunities for applying to prestigious national/international scholarships/fellowships
* Supervise graduate assistants as needed
* Provide leadership, vision and planning for enhancement of sponsored projects activities
* Promote and enhance a culture of integrity, service, and excellence
* Promote growth with campus external funding from traditional and nontraditional granting agencies
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
Master's degree in any social or health sciences; 3 years of documented experience and success in advancement and/or sponsored programs in higher education; Administrative experience in higher education in working with faculty in fund raising and/or grantsmanship.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
* Knowledge of regional, local, state, and federal government funding agencies and protocols, processes, and submission/reporting expectations.
* Experience in grants identification and cultivation.
* Knowledge of grants/contracts administration in institutions of higher education.
* Knowledge of effective proposal development and grants management. Knowledge of pre-and post-award standards in higher education.
* Knowledge of federal regulations governing institutional review boards and standards governing the protection of human subjects.
* Experience in compliance management and a broad understanding of regulations related to human subject compliance.
* Demonstrated ability to review and analyze a variety of materials to compile, evaluate and disseminate data on funding opportunities.
* Strong interpersonal skills, communication, and effectiveness in working cooperatively with others while enforcing rules, guidelines and required deadlines.
* Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives with minimal oversight and supervision.
