Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. In keeping with the mission of Cornell Tech, applicants must also have a strong interest in activities that reach beyond academia for external engagement and impact, in areas that may include technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, or activities with non-profit organizations, government and policy issues, international programs, or pre-college (K-12) education. Applicants for senior positions should have a demonstrated track record of such external engagement.

Within a clearly identified subsection of the Research Statement, the candidate should address prior accomplishments and future plans related to their external engagement, that is, the direct commercial and/or societal impact of their research. Candidates are encouraged to review Cornell University's guidance for writing diversity statements as well as their evaluation considerations. In addition to these statements, candidates should include a copy of their most significant research publications, a list of the full contact information for three references, and, for junior applicants, a doctoral transcript.
