Under the long-range, administrative direction of the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry/Chief Executive Officer of the Behavioral Health Workforce Center (BHWC), the Executive Director of the Behavioral Health Workforce Center is responsible for executing the primary goals of the statewide BHWC to strengthen the behavioral healthcare system in Illinois.

Examples of Duties

ADMINISTRATION (85%)
- Provide executive leadership, strategic thinking, and management for setting and successful achievement of the vision and goals of the Behavioral Health Workforce Center (BHWC or Center) as outlined in forthcoming BHWC Strategic Plan.
- Lead project design and manage Center projects and activities to completion in a timely manner with a focus on quality and achievement of Center goals.
- Play a lead role in the development and achievement of key performance indicators for tracking growth and retention of the behavioral health workforce across the state of Illinois.
- Provide leadership and promote authentic collaboration between BHWC hubs at SIU School of Medicine and the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC).
- Ensure the BHWC establishes and maintains partnerships with community organizations, hospitals, public and private clinical providers, community colleges, public universities, and independent colleges and universities.
- Lead staff of the BHWC hub at SIU School of Medicine with an emphasis on teamwork and continuous improvement.
- Provide administrative oversight for management of grant funding for the BHWC. Collaborate with the appropriate partners to prepare formal reports and other BHWC communications for the public, Illinois General Assembly, and other groups, as requested, with high-quality, accurate, and timely content.
RESEARCH (10%)
- Represent the BHWC for desired results of research projects and reports, as well as other contracted services requested from external partners.
- Develop outcome measurements and other tools necessary to evaluate programs.
SERVICE (5%)
- Demonstrate, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine. Provide excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement.
- Serve on University, SIU HealthCare, and external committees and work groups as deemed appropriate to the functioning of this position.

Qualifications
-
- Master's degree in a relevant field; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.
- Eight (8) years of senior-level experience in education, government, healthcare, behavioral health, non-profit or related settings, with demonstrated success in establishing and executing on a vision and leading collaborative teams.
- Five (5) years of team development and staff supervision experience.
- Three (3) years of experience working with and within higher education institutions.
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
