Responsibilities

Classification: Non-Exempt / Bargaining

Responsible for accounts payable transactions.

Qualifications

  • Required 2 year college degree, in accounting, or
  • Work experience in accounts payable function, purchasing function or general accounting required.
  • Analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Experience in basic accounting concepts and practices, including the basic or working knowledge relating to accounting chartfield/general ledger account coding.
  • Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning ("ERP") tool such as PeopleSoft, Lawson or SAP.
  • Understanding of and the ability to execute accounts payable related internal controls with in the ERP system or manual payment processes including verifying appropriate approval, account coding of invoices, validation of sales or use tax application, account and vendor statement reconciliation skills. Self-sufficient, ability to take initiative to resolve issues, able to troubleshoot system and/or process problems and resolve as needed.
  • Strong professional written/email and verbal communication skills necessary to communicate with internal customers and external vendors/customers as a representative of the Company. Communications with external vendors would include the ability follow up on open items, request additional information, and negotiate outstanding invoice balances or inappropriate charges such as late fees.
  • Ability to manage workload and various priorities to comply with internal control requirements relating to the accounts payable area and meet weekly deadlines for processing vouchers for payment.
  • Computer proficiency is required and would include an intermediate skill level in using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.), including the use of Outlook for email and calendaring, Adobe, and various text formatted documents, etc. Must have working knowledge of how to use file and folder structures.

Salary

Pay range (commensurate with skills and experience): $16.29 - $20.12
