Purpose: Converting Site Lead is responsible for planning and directing the overall Converting operations and improving productivity and efficiency. The qualified candidate will ensure the operation produces safe, low-cost products that meet or exceed the customers' expectations and requirements. The Converting Site Lead will be responsible for safety, quality, production, maintenance, and logistics. This position operates the facility's assets to maximize efficiency and profitability of sheet grades of paper; creates, implements, and oversees communication programs that effectively describe and promote the organization and its products.
Qualifications
Key Accountabilities:
- Makes safety a priority by communicating, participating and supporting safety efforts, ensuring that all regulatory requirements are met.
- Ensure the safety and health of all personnel in area of responsibility as related to work activities. Efforts to achieve this end shall be directed to training of team members to perform their jobs safely without committing unsafe acts and maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.
- Know, support, live, and protect the Billerud Core Values by walking the talk through daily behaviors.
Provide leadership in driving EBITDA performance including customer, segment, and product profitability. - Assist Sales and Marketing with new product or market segment development.
- Achieve long-term profitable growth of the converting business in alignment with the annual operation plan to support Billerud's strategic direction.
- Lead in the development of the converting annual operation plan with supporting tactical activities to ensure plan achievement.
- Provide direction and guidance to Converting leadership team personnel to ensure continuous improvement in the following key customer metrics: grade, cost to serve, profitability, etc.
- Provide multiple levels of BNA leadership on status updates of sheeting business and Converting operations.
- Establishes, executes, and maintains accountability for the achievement of specific operational performance targets (e.g., on-time shipments, inventory targets, product cost, quality standards, and order accuracy) leveraging continuous improvements concepts and applications.
- Make routine inspections of operating areas, checking progress of projects being worked on, reviewing operating logs, checking for abnormal equipment operations, optimizing work efficiency, ensuring good housekeeping, making safety observations, etc.
- Foster an environment that promotes employee engagement and a proactive approach to workforce planning.
- Coach and develop the competencies of the Converting leadership team.
- Maintain harmonious relations with team members by administering contract provisions and company policies to avoid breach of contract, to ensure conformance to work rules and regulations administering
Personal qualities
Required Experience and Education: Minimum Required Experience and Education:
- A bachelor's degree in pulp and paper science, industrial, or mechanical engineering or related area.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 year's supervisory/operations experience in manufacturing or sheeting operations. Significant consideration will be given to applicable experience in sheeting operations OR any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Required skills: Minimum Required Skills:
- Social, leadership, and communication skills to engage key customers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work with team members throughout an organization, excellent analytical, communication, team leadership skills, planning and priority setting and quality and timely decision making.
- Budgeting experience preferred.
Travel: Negotiable
