Job Summary

The Senior Ultrasound Technician in the Adult Echocardiography Laboratory is responsible for performing the full range of adult echocardiography procedures including, 2D/3D echo, stress echocardiography (exercise/pharmacological) and contrast echocardiograms in acute and outpatient care settings utilizing multi-vendor sourced equipment. The Sr. Ultrasound technician is also responsible for maintaining a high standard of medical ethics at all times, is self-motivated to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve, and follow established examination standards that adhere to the policies and procedures of UCDH and IAC. Clinical instruction of cardiac ultrasound students and/or Cardiac Fellows may also be expected and required per the Echo Lab Supervisor or Manager's discretion. Participation in lab sponsored events/demonstrations as requested. This position is Monday through Friday with varying hours between 7:30am and 6:00pm and weekend rotation. Per Diem will be on an as needed basis. Availability for mandatory overtime and assignment to perform echo procedures at the Primary Care Network (PCN) clinics maybe required. #CA-SB

Minimum Qualifications

For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.

  • Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) issued by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer issued by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Ultrasound program.
  • Minimum 2 years Cardiac Ultrasound experience or successful completion of UCDH clinical externship in Echocardiography.
  • Ability to perform all requested 2D/3D echo and stress echo examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
  • Ability to perform and understands advanced cardiac analytics: cardiac mechanics (strain), 3D/4D volumes and analytics as they become commercially available.
  • Ability to effectively operate ultrasound equipment. Have working knowledge of different ultrasound systems (i.e. Siemens SC2000, Philips Epiq, CX50, iE33 etc.).
  • Performance of echo procedures and/or exercise stress echocardiogram procedures in Primary Care Network (PCN) clinics as assigned.
  • Variable weekend, holiday rotation, and mandatory overtime may be required. Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

  • Certificate of completion related to technical training in cardiovascular sonography.
