Summary

The Safety Representative role is responsible for safety and compliance matters for operations across a designated region in a safety first culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Conducting safety compliance field audits and communicating findings to area management
  • Delivering safety training to area operations personnel in accordance with CFR 1910
  • Observing and mentoring company operations personnel in safe work planning and practices
  • Leading and managing tailgate safety meetings and area safety meetings
  • Performing investigations of incidents and drafting corrective actions
  • Participating in company safety and environmental policy and procedure development
  • Attending customer safety functions and acting as the company safety representative for a multi-area basis
  • Assessing company compliance with customer safety requirements and creating remedial plans to address deficiencies
  • Maintaining records for safety training sessions and presenting to the safety supervisor for consolidation and reporting
  • Maintaining incident and corrective action logs associated with incidents and discussing with the safety team
  • Assisting operational staff with the implementation of recommended safety measures


Essential Requirements:



  • Ability to perform incident investigations using appropriate techniques and to identify and correct root causes
  • Ability to assume & perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions
  • Work well with others and also be able to perform work independently.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment.
  • Have knowledge of safety rules and practices and a very good safety record.
  • Have basic computer skills.
  • Have a history of being dependable & reliable.
  • Good organizational skills, good customer relations skills, and a record of very positive work performance.


Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level



  • Representative - Safety: HS Diploma or equivalent, 6+ YOE
  • Sr Representative - Safety: HS Diploma or equivalent, 8+ YOE



Preferred Skills



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 5 years general experience in the oil/gas industry
  • Prefer mechanical or instrumentation background
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate and analyze safety metrics including TRIR, LTIR and SIR
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and how they relate to Company operations
  • Excellent time management, communication and organization skills


Working Conditions:



  • May require walking and standing up to 12 hours a day
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, bend, stretchy
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Driving, walking, and standing frequently
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required
