Responsibilities

The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible to assist with processing surgical instruments/supplies so they are ready for use by the surgical team and other departments within the hospital system.

  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of decontamination equipment.
  • Undertakes manual cleaning of instruments and equipment to remove contaminates.
  • Retrieves contaminated supplies and delivers sterile supplies to where needed.
  • Responsible for setting up of case carts for the Endoscopy Room after consulting its schedule and requisitions.
  • Responsible for monitoring biological and chemical wash solutions to ensure quality and consistence for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High School (or GED equivalent) diploma.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Basic Life Support certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
