Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and efficient Assistant Press Operator to join our team in Houston, United States. In this collaborative role, you will support our Press Operators in the operation and maintenance of sheet-fed or web offset printing presses, ensuring high-quality print production.

  • Assist in press make-ready procedures, including inserting packing sheets, fastening reinforcing bars, and installing plates and blankets on press cylinders
  • Adjust press machine parts such as feeder and delivery mechanisms, suction grippers, guides, feed wheels, jogging devices, tapes, and cams
  • Support the removal and replacement of worn rollers and adjust pressure between press rollers
  • Clean ink fountains, blankets, and ink distributing rollers using appropriate solvents and cleaning mechanisms
  • Collaborate with Press Operators to make necessary color or register corrections and press adjustments to meet quality specifications
  • Perform routine operational maintenance and minor repairs on printing equipment under guidance
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and industry standards

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years of general knowledge in offset presswork procedures and materials
  • Ability to read and follow job specifications accurately
  • Demonstrated skill in following instructions and operating equipment safely
  • Proficiency in using micrometers for mounting and aligning printing plates
  • Capability to make precise adjustments to feeder and feed board components
  • Experience in performing routine operational maintenance and minor repairs on printing equipment
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and color accuracy
  • Basic computer skills for operating digital printing equipment
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new printing technologies and processes

Additional Information

Thepay range for this role at the noted location is $19-26 / hour. The actual rate of pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, and shift.

In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include overtime.
