Overview

We are looking for candidates with prior RN experience

No new grad opportunities available

36 hours per week

Nightshift 7p-7a, every third weekend and holiday rotation

Minimum of pay range is $34.00/hour | Pay to commensurate with experience

General Medicine (H9A) Facts:

-Cares for a range of patients which do not fit any other specialty (Asthma, Failure to Thrive (FTT), Hyperbilirubinemia, readmit unit for neonatal, first-time seizure, adolescent med); high volume of patients. Often scores in the Top Tier for NCH's Employee Satisfaction survey

-A culture of mentoring and support

    60-70% of patients are babies
  • Rapid turnover; patient stay is typically 2-3 days
  • RN to patient ratio: 1: 3-4
  • 24 beds
  • Because of our high volumes, we like to be a trial/pilot unit to test new processes and procedures or work-flows
  • Consistently receives high customer satisfaction scores
  • H9A is a fast-paced unit that typically turns over 8-10 patients per day; with 90% of our admissions coming from the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
  • Assesses individualized patient needs. Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel.
  • Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.
  • Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
  • Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.


Qualifications

Education:

BSN; Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.

Licensure:

Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.

Certifications:

Current CPR certification required (upon hire). Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.

Typing on computer Constantly (67-100%)

Using phone Frequently (34-66%)

Sitting Frequently (34-66%)

Standing Occasionally (0-33%)

Lifting Occasionally (0-33%)

Walking Frequently (34-66%)

Must be able to independently lift up to 35 lbs.

Must be able to move or reposition patients of any weight or size with the assistance of another person(s) and/or equipment.
