The Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE) Internship Program at Quest Diagnostics offers students the opportunity to gain experience working at the world's leading provider of diagnostic testing, services, and information that patients and doctors rely on to make better healthcare decisions. The Q4HE team works to help remove the barriers deepening health inequities in under-resourced communities while improving equity in testing, screening, and diagnosis. Q4HE Summer Interns have the unique opportunity to work directly with Quest scientists, and medical, marketing, and lab operations professionals.

Interns will also have the opportunity to apply their background and skills gained in education to various process improvement, medical research, and health equity projects.

Advanced Infectious Disease & Immunology

Project focused on HIV screening and prevention. The outcome of the project will be used to increase screening rates for HIV and reduce transmission rates.

U.S. Speciality Genetics

Review and summarize genetic testing coverage and reimbursement policies of third party payors. Investigate potential CPT codes where gene content could change coverage.

East Region Lab Operations

Clifton, NJ

Rotation within lab setting of 6 departments in Clifton lab. Work side-by-side with Clifton Lab technologists and technicians, handling patient specimens and gaining understanding. Interns will be included in kaizen projects working on process imporvements and cost savings initiatives.

Clinical Development: Haystack Oncology

Assisting in curation and organization of clinical research data. Performing literature searches and reviews in Oncology and MRD. Supporting development of clinical protocols and clincal development activities.

Oncology Franchise

Coordinate with team to understand needs of business. Drive agenda and action items across working team. Understanding IVD/FDA device manufacturing of screening and structure organization of team.

Advanced Infectious Disease & Immunology: Autoimmune Clinical Franchise

Analyze Systemic Autoimmune Panel for data trends of performance and create reports for improvement of operations. Collaborate with customer solutions in various regions to investigate and gather data in a meaningful way.

Pack Health Business Development

Support Expanded business contacts. Project conceptualization, contracting and execution. Background research on new business opportunities, exposure to budget and contract cycles, transition from contract to project execution.

Quest for Health Equity

Support the enablement of community initiatives. Support the development of research proposals and implementation of testing and distribution of healthcare information.


Program Eligibility & Qualifications:

To be eligible to participate in the Q4HE Summer Internship Program, students must meet the following qualifications by the start date of the program:

  • Completed at least one year of a four-year baccalaureate program
  • Be a participant (current or prior) in a Q4HE-funded program. All majors will be considered.
  • A minimum 3.0 or better overall GPA

Housing and transportation will not be provided with this internship for positions that are on-site or hybrid. Virtual and hybrid positions will require access to internet connectivity during business hours.
