WHAT TO EXPECT
This position is responsible for the development and execution of a successful sales cycle across a region in Latin America, selling all lines of Gates (Industrial Replacement & Automotive Replacement) branded, and other outside vendor products. Proactively execute strategies in conjunction with 3 rd party vendors to build a productive sales force of in country sales representatives using a wide variety of consultative sales techniques.
The Regional Sales Manager reports to the Director of Sales - GIA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned beyond functions listed below:
  • Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accomplish corporate goals. Regional sales volumes range from $5 to $10 million dollars.
  • Meet established sales quotas and revenue goals to ensure region meets assigned sales budgets and expense controls.
  • Advises customers and sales representatives in marketing and advertising techniques to assist in promoting sales of Industrial and Automotive products.
  • Utilize CRM for all aspects of account management: lead generation, contact, weekly upload of opportunities, closure of new business opportunity.
  • Maintain an effective communication path with key customers to ensure sales opportunities for products.
  • Makes direct sales calls and maintains customer contact on a daily basis via phone, fax or email. Research and develop lists of potential customers.
  • Delivers sales presentations to end users (i.e. mechanics and engineers etc.) and prospects.
  • Operates within established Regional expense budgets.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets. Implement distribution strategies to accelerate growth of new and additional products and/or markets. Must be able to demonstrate understanding and report trending of diverse end markets within the Regional Assignment.
  • Maintain awareness of strategic plans and procedures to coordinate market plans.
  • Monitors and evaluates the activities and products of the competition and determines how to better utilize market data.
  • Accountability for Industrial Replacement & Automotive Replacement Market Segment sales through Distribution within assigned Region.
  • Monitor and communicate sales activity to contribute to product and service planning. Provide weekly and monthly report of field sales to Director of Sales.
  • Participate in industry or promotional events (e.g. trade shows) to cultivate customer relationships.
  • Supervises and manages sales representatives located in multiple countries.
  • Processes quotes and orders on a timely basis.
  • Train representatives, local distributors, jobbers, and end-users (Industrial & Automotive) on Gates products and policies.
ABOUT YOU
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or 8 years of equivalent work experience; master's degree preferred.
  • 5 years of industry experience
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the broader organization, and how their role and/or function fit into the strategic plan and overall direction of Gates.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the organization strategy so everyone knows how their contribution furthers organizational success.
  • Decisions reinforce the business plan and strategy by building a disciplined, consistent approach with measurements of success.
  • Thinks strategically with ability to convert strategy into operational actions. He/she has an innovative approach and an ability to think 'out of the box'.
  • Demonstrated ability in problem solving with special emphasis on closing the sale.
  • A demonstrable capacity to keep abreast of new technology trends and how they would apply to real world projects.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to accurately complete daily, weekly, or monthly expense or other assigned reports on time, including organizing sales prospects, sales planning, or other sales support projects must as assigned.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including formal presentation skills before both small and large groups, including customers, peers and managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive and report metrics. Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Must be self-confident and able to plan, organize, implement, and follow-up, accept and adapt to change while being prompt, professional and responsive to customer needs.
  • Industrial and Automotive sales experience a plus.
  • Fluent in the Spanish and English language both oral and written.
  • Sufficient knowledge of cultural, political and economic climate in order to initiate or recommend actions to increase sales.
  • Up to 50% international travel required.
  • Experience with Oracle and Salesforce CRM applications a plus.
