Quality Specialist ($3000 Sign On Bonus)

Overview:

The Quality Specialist's role will primarily focus on activities within the Material Review Board and Corrective Action.

Job requirements:


  • 0-5 years' experience in quality-related functions
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of standard quality concepts, preferred
  • Familiarity with various aspects of quality control
  • Ability to effectively work in cross-functional teams
  • Must be flexible and able to balance multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to; vendors, suppliers, customers, etc.
  • Strong computer literacy, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance, therefore you must be able to obtain/maintain a security clearance
  • Knowledge/experience with AS9100 a plus
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Assist with MRB activity /follow up on corrective actions
  • Review Raw material review for Level I/Space programs
  • Support Lot verification - stagings (kit inspections - against Level I / Space programs)
  • Review process data, contracts, and PO flow-down
  • Support process surveillance and work center audits
  • Assist with, and conduct, failure investigations and drive corrective actions
  • Support AS9100
  • Participate in continuous improvement teams, as directed
  • Participate in the evaluation of supplier processes, collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhanced opportunities (as required)
  • Read and interpret blueprints and know definitions of critical, major and minor characteristics.
  • Use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size for lots; pull random samples; check lot quality by sampling according to acceptable quality levels (AQL); may perform 100% inspection, visual or dimensional as required.
  • Check one or more specified surfaces on similar work pieces for adherence to dimensional tolerances; geometric relationships and/or configurations, appearance, workmanship, surface defects, cleanliness, marking omissions or improperly installed parts.
  • Recognize parts of unacceptable quality; sort, mark or count defective or re-workable items; record type and extent of defect or deviation; reject or re-grade items not meeting specifications.
  • Review and understand traceability (product, material and calibration).
  • Adhere to sequence sheets, routing tickets, order supplements, drawing specifications, quality instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Understand and complete standard inspection forms.
  • Provide supply certification and test reports to customer with shipments as required.-Maintain necessary records to include keeping logs and inspection reports.
  • Properly archive records, including component routings and material. Support the automation of record keeping
  • Abide by all established procedures for parts-handling
  • Support any/all analysis and problem-solving encountered in daily operations


Additional Duties / Responsibilities:


  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Maintain and continue to elevate relationships with Business Development, Engineering, Operations, Customer Service and all other facets of the company
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to various regulatory and internal system requirements
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. to provide constructive recommendations and initiate actions to support company initiatives/goals
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned
  • Ensure that work area and work areas of direct reports are clean, secure, and well maintained
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required


Work Environment:


  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • This is a full-time position. Overtime and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
  • Some travel may be required for this position (10%)

  • The employee may be required to lift and/or move items weighing up to 40 pounds.


This position is at our Montville, NJ corporate offices location.
