Long Beach, CA - Management - West BSC How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? This position will oversee Division wide fleet management and provide programs, analysis and guidance to drive efficiency and effectiveness of our overall distribution network. This role will work closely with Regions, its branches and operations to assess equipment needs of each facility, determining priorities, allocation of capital resources for all equipment and capital based investment projects within the fleet. They should create 3-5 yr fleet strategies that anticipate the needs within the division such as size of fleet, # of axles, fuel alternatives and preventative maintenance solutions. Leveraging all the digital integrations (OBC, TRIPS, FAST, etc), this role is responsible for creating routing solutions that optimize our network and ensure operational results (financial & service).

Target Annual Salary: 134,000 - 189,000
Target Annual Bonus: 10%

The person will be responsible for ensuring all the data is sufficient and accurate, they will establish benchmarks and baselines and create routing solutions that deliver the required efficiencies while delivering on customer satisfaction. They should measure the pre and post implementation of any initiative to determine the benefits.

This person will also be the liaison between corporate initiatives, division ambitions and local performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create 3-5 year strategy for Fleet + Logistics performance / planning for Division inclusive of the following elements:

    • Financial budgeting

    • Assessing tools and programs

    • Understanding the needs of the business for those period - and designing / anticipating fleet programs / vehicles that meet those needs

  • Working with the regional fleet safety team, ensures that all fleet / and fleet operations meet DOT, EPA and other governing requirements

  • Develop efficiency plans related to fleet and logistics operations in the divisions and regions

  • Ensures that the Fleet administrators of the division ensure the compliance, and smooth operation with fleet and ensure all requirements are up to date

  • Utilizing the analysts ensures that the operational performance of the branches, plants, regions and the division meet the expectation as it relates to cost, productivity and safety

  • Produces optimization / distribution and fleet scorecards for the division ensure optimum performance for productivity (CE / hr, CE / Trip) and cost ($ / CE, $ / mile, etc)

  • Will oversee the PM program for all fleet inclusive of compliance, performance and vendor selection, ensuring that our fleet achieves its expected performance while being cost effective

  • Subject Matter Expert on the utilization of all digitization tools such as OBC, TRIPS and FAST.

  • Ensures sufficient operational and administrative support for the WDIV Fleet to include regional plants and branches as directed

  • Managing the day to day operations of the fleet such as:

    • Generation of routine capital requests (CARs) such as monthly lease buyouts

    • Submit asset status updates such as retirements and transfers to all appropriate POCs

    • Provide administrative support as directed for all WDIV vehicle sales

  • Collect and consolidate monthly tube trailer fill data for tracking in the WFS database to comply with DOT Special Permit retest requirements

  • Drive Microbulk performance by evaluating loading opportunities, presenting the region bulk team with areas of conversion and / or area of opportunity

  • Provide project management assistance as directed by Operations team

  • Strong proficiency in Fleet Management, Fleet, Preventative Maintenance and major operational KPIs

  • Advanced SAP & Power BI Reporting experience preferred.

  • Business understanding of P&L a plus.

  • Google proficiency to include Sheets, Docs and Slides a plus.

  • Ability to troubleshoot logistics equipment and digital tools

  • Excellent customer service & communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.

  • Strong skills in problem identification, evaluation and solution.

  • Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results concisely.

  • Solid organizational skills to manage multiple open projects.

  • Strong work ethic with a professional, positive attitude and an eagerness to learn.

  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups.

  • Strong level of attention to detail.

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university preferably in Logistics or Business

  • Management or related field or minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training in fleet

  • management or distribution; or equivalent combination of education and experience
