The Department of University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) and Family Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics is seeking a patient centeredPhysician Assistant(PA) in ourQuickCare and Urgent Care Clinics - Hourly/PRN (24 hours a monthminimum. Physician Assistant performs direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services. Within the Physician Assistant (PA)/Physician relationship, the PA will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. The PA will also provide virtual primary care by use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support and promote long-distance clinical health care, patient, and professional health-related education. The PA will also assist in educating healthcare students, as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions and will assist in research endeavors as appropriate. This position reports to the Medical Director within the UI Community Clinics and Lead APP within UI Community Clinics. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide care responsibilities in the Urgent Care and Quick Care Clinics, will rotate to different Urgent Care and Quick Care Clinics, and also utilize online telehealth platforms.
- Obtain medical history and perform physical examination.
- Assess, assist, diagnose and treat medical or surgical problems and record findings.
- Perform or assist in and interpret the performance of laboratory and related studies.
- Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, the suturing and care of wounds, removal of foreign bodies, ear and eye irrigation and other clinical procedures.
- Assist in arranging for continued care such as but not limited to: transfer to the Emergency Treatment Center; follow-up care or establishment of care with a primary care provider; and/or follow-up consultations (including referrals to appropriate specialty and subspecialty physicians as indicated by patients' problems).
- Perform and screen results of special medical exams including but not limited to electrocardiogram, radiography, audiometric and vision screening, tonometry, and pulmonary function screening tests.
- Instruct and counsel patients regarding physical and mental health on matters such as diets, disease, therapy, and normal growth and development.
- Evaluate, treat, and institute procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to urgent medical problems.
- Maintain awareness of health facilities, agencies, and resources in order to facilitate the appropriate referral of patients.
- Order medications and administer drugs.
- Direct other medical personnel and health professionals in the execution of patient care.
- Perform duties appropriate to a physician's practice.
- Participate in educating health care students in various programs.
- Participate in committees within the division, department, College of Medicine and University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Perform all other duties as assigned on a permanent or temporary basis

Pay Grade:94 Salary: $85,080tocommensurate https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay(https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay) Benefits Highlights: * Regular salaried position located in Iowa City and Corridor area * Benefit package includes a generous employer contributions into retirement plans and employee discounts. Percent of Time:Hourly/PRN(24 hours per month) Schedule:Variable hours will be accomplishedbetween Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 9:30 PM and Saturday - Sunday 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, rotating weekends and holiday time, no on-call time, clinical location could change based on the clinic need/hour. Location:Iowa City, IA and surrounding clinic locations, as needed. EDUCATION REQUIRED Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and certification by the NCCPA. REQUIRED Qualifications
- Licensed as PA in the state of Iowa
* Demonstrated experience in area of clinical practice is required. * Demonstrated ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient population (of all ages) within a highly functioning unit/department. * Proved capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. * Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment. * Current valid driver's license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy Standards. * Internet and telephone access (10 mbps bandwidth to deliver care via video visits). Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of PA experience withinacute patient care experience within Emergency Department, Urgent Care and/or Walk-In Clinicarea(s).
- Some knowledge of University policies and procedures desired.
- Comfortable with technology and leveraging video, or the desire to learn.
