LSSI is hiring afull-timeTherapeutic Mentor Monday through Saturday, hours vary from 11am-7pm.Develop a professional, nurturing relationship with youth that empowers them to succeed. Provide the youth with positive outlets for new opportunities and challenges inspiring the youth to achieve goals and dreams.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a positive role model for the youth and build self-esteem and motivation in the youth.
  • Communicate with youth openly, without judgment.
  • Work collaboratively with youth, family, and assigned therapist to develop creative ways to identify/participate in activities that support the youth's ITP.
  • Make home visits and transport clients as needed.
  • Assist youth with setting goals to achieve academic and personal successes.
  • Communicate with assigned therapist regarding children's and /or family's status.
Position Qualifications:
  • High school or GED, with AA Degree (2 yrs) preferred.
  • Basics of child and adolescent development or equivalent life experience and to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, comprehensible manner.
  • Capacity to understand, and empathize with the cultural, psychological, and practical needs of the clients that the agency serves.
  • Valid Illinois driver's license.
  • Proof of automobile liability insurance.
  • Access to transportation for visits, meetings and to transport clients as needed.
