The Food Services Support Asociate II serves as the interface between patients and Dining and Nutrition Services and ensures patient needs are met by supporting technology and DNS processes. May also perform a variety of duties as assigned, including but not limited to, food preparation and storage, and general sanitation of the department, assembling and delivering trays, snacks, tube feedings, and nourishment.
- Responsible for assisting patients with menu selections, service delivery, and meal ticket processing. Uses effective communication, courtesy, and professionalism in all interactions. Makes appropriate decisions, reasoning, and problem solving to gather and verify essential information needed for patient care.
- Communicates with patients by phone or in-person to obtain menu and snack selection per physician diet order.
- Completes all general food service tasks as assigned which may include storeroom, tray assembly and/or delivery and related cleaning.
- Administers and documents menus and requests for patient food items utilizing automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.
- Completes required documentation that includes temperature logs according to documentation requirement.
- Completes all cleaning and sanitations tasks as assigned.
- Participates in activities/meetings, which may include orientation of co-workers, patient/customer satisfaction initiatives, cost reduction initiatives, and inspection readiness.
- May assist supervisor/manager with scheduling and managing inventory of food and/or supplies.
- May meet with patients to obtain menu and snack selection per physician diet order.
- May complete cafeteria tasks as assigned which may include cash handling and food prep.
- May complete cashier duties in cafeterias including ringing up customer sales on cash register, balancing cash drawer, making deposits.
- May provide catering services for catering events and meetings.
What We Require:
Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
Experience: One (1) year food service, and/or call center experience preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: In areas in which employee is deemed in charge of departmental operations, SERV-Safe Certification or equivalent certification from the Virginia Health Department is required; or ability to obtain certification within year one in this position.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills required. Basic keyboarding and PC skills. Knowledge of automated computer systems or the ability to learn this skill, including electronic medical records required. Position is deemed 'emergency personnel' during emergency weather conditions. Must provide own transportation and travel to other Carilion work sites. May be required to work at other Carilion facilities to meet staffing needs.
