Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Recruitment, work in a remote office location. The Associate Director provides critical, strategic and operational leadership to manage and coordinate national recruitment strategies and programs to annually meet campus undergraduate admission, enrollment and revenue-generating goals. The Associate Director forms strategic educational partnerships and provides direct oversight of national educational recruitment programs to raise the profile of UC Davis and build a UC going culture around the world. As an International Admissions Specialist, continue to form strategic educational partnerships in assigned international region(s,) serving as primary liaison for prospective students and inquiring parties, from initial inquiry, through the recruitment and admissions review process, to potential admission.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Experience developing and performing undergraduate student recruitment and yield efforts at a highly selective university.
  • Knowledge of national and international student recruitment and university admissions principles, practices, and trends.
  • Skills in strategic management planning, formulating goals, monitoring expenses, allocating resources, and assessing outcomes.
  • Skills to gather knowledge of a wide variety of cultures, customs, and educational systems, and apply that knowledge to develop targeted recruitment, outreach, and yield strategies.
  • Leadership skills to motivate, resolve conflicts, and promote teamwork in a highly collaborative environment; Interpersonal skills to develop relationships, collaborate, negotiate, and interact with individuals and groups of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Professional skills and judgment to interpret and apply complex admission guidelines to render admission decisions across a wide range of unique academic and life circumstances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with a University of California or comparable public research university undergraduate admission office.
  • Analytical skills to review and assess statistical information, program reports, and evaluations, as well as budgets related to undergraduate admission programs.
  • Ability to work with autonomy, independence, and resourcefulness, and without close supervision due to geographic distance and differences in time zones.
  • Presentation skills to represent the University before large and small groups, conveying University information verbally and with technological tools.
  • Familiarity with academic and social problems confronting students from diverse backgrounds in high school and college settings.
  • Initiative, decision-making and judgment skill to recommend and take action under general direction and within limits of broadly defined objectives and priorities.
