Overview

The Behavioral Health Community Based Therapist I is responsible for the provision of clinical assessment, behavioral health treatment, case management, care coordination and crisis intervention of children, adolescents and their families. The Community Based Therapist I practices under supervision and is working toward the goal of independent licensure. This individual is responsible to utilize case management and care coordination strategies and individual, group and family modalities within expected practice standards and as informed by the professional literature. The Community Based Therapist will possess the skills to provide interventions in the natural environment as well as in the school setting, other community facilities and at the outpatient site. This individual will provide culturally appropriate interactions and interventions across all professional and clinical settings. This may be a time limited position.

Responsibilities

    Remains current in required licensure and clinical or other training as required. Satisfactory progress toward independent licensure is expected.
  • Accurately assesses and documents client presenting problems, history, symptomology, mental status, diagnosis and prescribes initial interventions in a timely manner.
  • Meets with client/family to assist in developing specific, realistic, ad measurable treatment goals and objectives.
  • Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments and consistent with program expectations.
  • Remains current in general knowledge of psychopharmacology in pediatric behavioral healthcare and collaborates consistently with team psychiatrist.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call procedure that provides families with 24-hour, 7-days a week accessibility and availability in crisis and acute situations.
  • Completes clinical charting and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with policy standards.
  • Practices within professional areas of expertise and under the supervision of an independently licensed practitioner.
  • Maintains productivity expectations.
  • Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care.
  • Meets regularly with Clinical Lead Supervisor, Clinical Coordinator or designee.
  • Attends routine staff meetings.
  • Attends in-service trainings, peer review and other intra-agency and supervisory activities.
  • Demonstrates willingness to seek/accept direct supervision as well as respect productive feedback from colleagues and others.
  • Strives to maintain positive patient satisfaction.
  • Supports the philosophy, goals and mission of Nationwide Children's Hospital.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Coordinator or Administrator.


Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school of Counseling, Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy;
  • Appropriate Ohio licensure;
  • Demonstrated skills and abilities in providing and managing behavioral healthcare to children, adolescent and families;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, families, peers and community representatives.
  • To maintain reliable transportation, and both an acceptable driving record and automobile insurance, with acceptable coverage for business driving/transporting of consumers, in accordance with NCH policies;
  • Staff members hired into the Community Support Service Worker II position prior to May 2011 can be grandfathered into this position
