Overview:

The Integrated Operations Support Division (IOSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking qualified applications for the position of Space Management Program Lead. This position provides direct line management to the Space Management Team (SMT) and programmatic leadership for the Lab's near-term and mid-term space strategies. The SMT resides in the Integrated Services Group and is responsible for personnel moves management, configuration management of floor layout drawings, the integrity of space data used for space charges and other functions, and administration of office and furniture standards. This position manages the execution of the Lab's tactical space needs (immediate through <2 years), and develops mid-term laboratory and office space strategy to optimize space utilization and meet the Lab's strategic objectives.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates across directorates to develop and implement near- and mid-term strategic space plans to optimize space allocations.

  • Leads efforts to evaluate directorate space utilization.

  • Leads the annual ORNL Space Summit and chairs ORNL's Space Council.

  • Ensures strong partnerships with directorate and division leadership teams through transparent and customer-focused communication.

  • Coordinates with Laboratory Modernization Division's Planning team and Division Space Representatives to ensure requests are in alignment with strategic space plans and ORNL's master plans.

  • Manages strategic space budget to execute projects supporting space management strategies including space renovations, furniture design and installation, and personnel moves. Ensures project schedules and statuses are coordinated and communicated effectively.

  • Subject Matter Expert for all Facility Space Management procedures including Office Space Allocation, Purchasing Office Furniture, and Office Space and Furniture Standards. Partners with directorate to implement procedures and ensure compliance with requirements.

  • Line management of Space Management organization responsible for ORNL's space management data and floor plans, space charging, lab reserve spaces, and move management.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in engineering or other related degree.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in Facilities Space Management or a related field.

  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience leading technical projects or teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSdegree in engineering, facilities management, strategic planning, business or other relevant degree.

  • Industry certifications including Project Management Professional (PMP).

  • Must be innovative, detail-oriented, experienced in highly visible projects.

  • Capable of managing multiple, high-priority assignments.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with staff and stakeholders and to resolve issues.

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data for reports and recommendations.

  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.

  • Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management.

  • Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.

Special Requirements:

  • Export control, no clearance: This position requires access to technology that is subject to export control requirements. Successful candidates must be qualified for such access without an export control license.

  • Q or L clearance: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a clearance from the Department of Energy. As such, this position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position. WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program.

  • Visa sponsorship: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
