Job Summary

The Project Coordinator applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues. Fully analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations.

The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences (BTS) currently seeks a Project Coordinator who will assist the Project Leaders and will work under general supervision to assist in the Departmental and P.I. research and community programs. The Project Coordinator will utilize organizational, communication, technical and coordination skills in addition to analytical skills. The individual will also be responsible for simultaneous communication, coordination, and tracking of deliverables for several research programs; The Kidney Project (TKP), Health Innovation via Engineering (HIVE) and The Master of Translational Medicine program (MTM), and for supporting their implementation activities, as well as organizing and executing meetings and events.

The incumbent will manage the day-to-day social and digital media channels, including the website, social media platform and emails for The Kidney Project (TKP), Health Innovation via Engineering (HIVE) and the Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences.

**NOTE: This is a one year contract role.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $55,700 - $90,000 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Department of Bioengineering and Therapeutic Sciences is a joint department that reports to both the School of Medicine (SOM) and the School of Pharmacy (SOP). Its faculty perform high-quality basic, translational and clinical research in the fields of drug development, pharmacogenomics, therapeutic engineering and computational biology. It educates PharmD, MD professionals and PhDs in bioengineering and therapeutic sciences.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in related area and one year of experience and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
