Job Summary

The Healthy Living Program office is currently seeking students who are passionate, reliable, creative, and
responsible to join their team. Responsibilities include:

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates health promotion programs under the supervision of leadership
    staff. Creates, completes, and submits planning documents and corresponding files, including expense
    requests, graphic requests, and evaluations.
  • Conducts outreach activities individually and with other team members on topic including stress and
    time management, sleep hygiene, sexual health, and other topics impacting FIU students and their
    health and well-being. Assists other SHW departments with their programmatic and outreach efforts.
  • Conducts workshops and presentations with other Peer Educators on general health and well-being
    topics impacting the student population.
  • Prepares for services and product distribution, to include aromatherapy preparation, packaging safe sex
    materials and giveaways, taking inventory of giveaways and office products, and room preparation.
    Receives packages and updates inventory accordingly.
  • Conducts internet searches for program development.
  • Assists in the collection of programmatic data. Organizes, and reports on programmatic data. Correctly
    enters participant data into data entry platforms. Documents work performed.
  • Assists with marketing activities, including development of marketing materials, and content creation for
    social media and other vitrual platforms. On-camera filming may be required.
  • Assists with the recruitment and retention of peer educators, volunteers, and interns. Trains new recruits
    on responsibilities and tasks.
  • Assists with administrative functions, answers phones, and actively welcome visitors.
    Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not
    preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to travel occasionally between additional FIU's Campuses: BBC, FIU I-75.
  • Must be willing to educate peers on sensitive topics (Contraceptives, safe sex, LGBTQ+, etc.).
  • Must possess excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Must be highly responsible and dependable.
  • Must exhibit excellent punctuality.
  • Must be able to commit to working 2 full semesters.
  • Must be able to take direction well.
Desired Qualifications

  • Temporary 1-year position, with possibility of extension. Preference will be given to those about to commit at least a full year.
  • Preference will be given to students with health, social service, or other related interests and/or long-term career goals.

Student Disclosure

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, mostly between 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM
  • Up to 15 hours a week.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, with occasional nights and weekends
Advertised Salary

$13.50/hour
