Your Role on the Team

Under the supervision of the Environmental / Hazardous Waste Manager, perform all duties including; transportation, packaging, storing, bulking, inventorying, recharging, inspecting and processing of hazardous chemical, biohazardous, medical, and universal waste generated by academic laboratories and other campus facilities. Perform hazardous waste and environmental management training classes on an as needed basis. Perform Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan monthly inspections. Respond to campus hazmat emergencies.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $31.13-$34.30 (Hourly)

Required:

  • General knowledge of scientific nomenclature, chemical and biological concepts and laboratory procedures, related to the safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Working knowledge of the UC Irvine Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan.
  • Skill and experience in operating and using analytical instruments and various personal computer skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students using sufficient written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience and knowledge with research institutions and environmental health and safety programs.
  • 1-3 years experience in scientific nomenclature, chemical and biological concepts and laboratory procedures, related to the safe handling of hazardous materials.
