Primary Purpose:

Provides leadership to the Generation Maintenance Mechanics, IC&E Technicians, and Maintenance Schedulers for the safe and efficient maintenance of the power plant. Supervises the maintenance department employees, provides oversight of work, manages shifts and schedules, coordinates employee training and development, and coordinates contractors. Ensures communications, documentation, and reporting related to maintenance activities are completed to support the facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:




  • Provides leadership, communication, and staff support in directing all facility maintenance activities including employee training, schedules, and performance evaluations. Coordinates all maintenance training including safety, tool & equipment training, and career development. Reviews and approves employees' time records. Promotes team building activities and employee development programs.



  • Monitors field work to ensure maintenance employees and contractors perform quality work efficiently, safely, cost-effectively, and on time.



  • Ensures the maintenance team has all the required resources to perform their jobs.



  • Ensures environmental and safety excellence, and promotes continued compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and safety programs, permits, regulations, and requirements.



  • Promotes, implements, and monitors maintenance programs to ensure reliability and availability of plant equipment.



  • Creates, reviews, and revises maintenance policies and procedures.



  • Conducts safety tailgate meetings and department safety meetings.



  • Participates in Safety Committee activities.



  • Assists in maintenance outage planning.



  • Recommends, reviews, and assists in the development of value-added capital projects, such as equipment upgrades and replacements.



  • Administers personnel overtime lists; assigns emergency callouts to personnel; responds onsite to callouts as required.



  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).




Work Schedule:



  • Successful candidate must work onsite five days per week.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.


Required Qualifications:



  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • 5 years related experience required. Technical knowledge of power plant equipment, and systems, principles of rotating equipment and appropriate safety procedures. Must have demonstrated knowledge of the maintenance requirements of a combined cycle power plant.
  • Computer skills: Basic MS Office-Word and Excel or similar software, SAP.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Strong reading, math, and accounting, analysis skills.
  • A solid ability to analyze and improve operations tasks, as well as make timely decisions to benefit the business.
  • Must be able to work irregular or extra hours and under unusual and special conditions.
  • Must have the ability to absorb formal training and schooling.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to select and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to frequently enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders, walkways and man-lifts at elevations up to 100 feet or more; crawl through confined areas; correctly wear and work using half-mask respirator; lift a minimum of 20lbs from the floor to the waist; and work in adverse weather.
  • A demonstrated skill in planning, coordinating and directing various programs, tasks and projects directly effecting the overall plant operation.
  • Must be able to work irregular or extra hours and under unusual and special conditions.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Supervisory and/or planning experience with a thorough understanding in generating plant maintenance, gas turbines and generating equipment highly desirable.
  • Supervisory experience with a thorough understanding of battery energy storage facility and solar production maintenance highly desirable.
  • A demonstrated skill in planning, coordinating and directing various programs, tasks and projects directly effecting the overall plant operation.
