The Value Chain Automation and Transformation team at Bimbo Bakeries USA is a group of dedicated, creative, and driven individuals determined to build the future of BBU's supply chain. You will be responsible for ideating, testing, implementing, and refining industry disruptive practices that will dramatically improve service, reduce cost, and create new levels of job satisfaction for our associates. Automation Design Manager This transformation leader will play an essential role in transforming the way that BBU's supply chain operates. Team members work individually and in groups with local management teams to improve the supply chain operational efficiency of targeted distribution centers and plants. The team is also responsible for deploying supply chain technology and works closely with internal and external software/hardware development teams to develop the most efficient processes. Operational areas of focus include but are not limited to shipping, transportation, inventory management, materials handling equipment, staffing, network optimization, process automation and facility design. The person filling this role must be a highly motivated individual who leads with behaviors that encourage innovation, change, and teamwork. Key Job Responsibilities:
- Design detailed shipping dock layouts for automated solutions.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data to create solutions that drive efficiency and/or quality improvements.
- Explore and recommend new technology and processes to improve supply chain efficiency.
- Provide recommended sizing of a new distribution center or shipping dock.
- Complete labor analysis for proposed or existing solutions.
- Work with local management to assist in the development of robust economically driven business cases and capital justifications.
- Support new facility openings ensuring the solution proposed operates as designed.
- Work with 3rd party providers in outsourced BBU operations.
- Meet with potential outside vendors, select vendor, and direct them by providing a clear understanding of project objectives, limitations, and timelines.
- Use project management principles for planning, scheduling, executing, and controlling all projects.
- Utilize basic time study skills to evaluate alternatives and select the most efficient method of operation.
- Eliminate labor and material waste through the development of effective designs.
- Measure results and success rates of initiatives through use of key performance indicators.
- Meet or exceed established safety, service, cost, and productivity goals.
- Willingness to travel (up to 50%) & work flexible schedules, hours, etc.; NOTE - some weekend work may occasionally be required during project launches

Education & Work History:
- BS IE, ME, or Supply Chain Management, a combination of education, training, and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted
- 5-7 yeas or experience preferred
- Competent user of MS Office suite
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required
- Experience in Flexsim or other simulation tools desired
- Prior experience with enterprise planning and warehouse management systems (ex. Oracle, SAP) preferred
Physical Demands:
- Able to use a variety of communication methods on frequent basis.
- Use a notebook computer and standard office equipment printers, fax, phone, etc.
- Able to sit, stand, stop, and have use of hand motor coordination regularly.
- Use various forms of transportation for extended periods of time on a periodic basis
