Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Storage/Backup Recovery Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The Storage/Backup Recovery (BUR) Engineer's primary focus on systems backup platforms, data protection and recovery. This individual will deliver technical infrastructure services for design, engineering, maintenance and support of the customer's enterprise data backup and recovery environment.

Day to Day Work Responsibilities:

    Contribute independently and on teams in projects of moderate to complex scope in order to recommend and develop creative and practical solutions.
  • Perform predictive analysis, performance analysis, monitor systems, identify root cause, develop and implement short- and long-term solutions, and must be able to guide others in adaptive problem solving.
  • Handle day to day administrative tasks including systems reporting, system tuning, and working with counterparts to address issues before outages are incurred.
  • Document completely and accurately at all levels of solution development and implementation, following procedural steps, as directed, to assure compliance with industry standards and customer policies.
  • Provide 24x7 support responding to escalated issues, troubleshooting errors and developing technical solutions to ensure implementation of process improvements.
  • Collaborate across operations and implementation teams to determine best solutions for support.
  • Support and maintain hardware, software and connectivity components by analyzing the functionality of infrastructure framework and designing and planning major upgrades and changes to ensure reliability and availability
  • Make improvements in the methodologies used for backup and storage and development of software that helps to find ways to use in configuration management.
  • Responsible for all communications to internal teams, government leads, and all stakeholders related to the storage and backup

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 0 years' experience or Associate's degree and 2 years' experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 4 years relevant experience
  • U.S. Citizenship, must have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance
  • Knowledge of NetApp and VERITAS NetBackup
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Cloud in relation to SAN and BUR operations
  • Knowledge of SAN storage operations
  • Knowledge of data replication to tape media at offsite locations
  • Knowledge of client business environment and requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of ITSM Processes: Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management and Computer Operations IT disciplines absolutely preferred.
  • Knowledge of BMC Remedy and its ticketing system
  • Knowledge of SharePoint
  • Possess an Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations 4 certification or the ability to obtain one
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities and use of judgment
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed work environment/self-starter

Target Salary Range

$39,000 - $62,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
