Job Summary

The Engineer is responsible for owning and implementing assigned sections of the Mechanical Integrity (MI) program for the Edwardsport IGCC Generating Station, located near Edwardsport, Indiana. This position will have primary responsibility for implementing and managing the station's MI program in accordance with the requirements of OSHA and EPA Process Safety Management requirements. This position will report to the Mechanical Integrity Superintendent.

Responsibilities
  • Manage aspects of Mechanical Integrity program such as pressure relieving devices, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment or piping.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews for deliverables received from vendors and contracted personnel.
  • Identify, facilitate, review and approval of inspection reports and corrective actions for plant equipment.
  • Manage equipment MI inspection activities and inspection contractors.
  • Assists with fitness for service evaluations per API, ASME or applicable industry guidelines/standards.
  • Prepare reports of key reliability metrics and associated analysis.
  • Work within a team environment to provide engineering and project management support of plant equipment.
  • Position requires strong technical and engineering skills with the ability to maintain a focus on plant production and reliability.
  • The successful candidate must possess the ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Successful candidate should model Environmental, Health, and Safety principles.
Basic/ Required Qualifications

Note: This posting is for one open position. Dependent on relevant experience, the level to which a candidate is aligned is outlined below.

Engineer I:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

Engineer II:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • A Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
  • Minimum 2 years related work experience
Desired Qualifications
  • 0 to 4 years as a practicing engineer with either a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam
  • Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel, API, OSHA, ASTM, NFPA and ANSI Code requirements.
  • Demonstrated organizational/planning skills, with ability to multi-task and set work priorities to meet station goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop simple engineering solutions to complex problems, while satisfying applicable code requirements.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with craft, supervision, engineering, and management personnel.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office and other computer programs as applicable.
  • Proficient written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings, and provide direction to others.
  • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
  • Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
Working Conditions
  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
  • Performs work in a power plant and an office environment; required to observe work in all areas of generating facilities which are power plant, industrial environments operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which includes exposures to hot and cold temperatures, noise, ash, slag, coal dust, fumes, confined spaces, and extreme heights, working around pressurized, rotating, and energized equipment.
  • May be required to climb ladders and stairs at various heights; enter vessels or equipment with limited access; walk, stoop, bend or squat.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, inspect, calculate, count, retain and make sound decisions.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, use and reach with hands, arms and fingers.
  • Potential exposure to high stress situations and requirement to be available for emergency response upon request.
  • Base work hours are dayshift, 8 hours per day; 5 days per week, additional overtime will be required to support projects, plant outages and emergent problems.
  • Work weekends, holidays, overtime and callouts as needed
Specific Requirements
  • Mandatory Hearing Protection Program
  • Ability to satisfactorily meet the physical job requirements including walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, working in hot or cold temperatures, exposure to dust, exposure to noise, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must pass respiratory physical, and be able to wear all required PPE (including but not limited to full- and half-face respirators and safety harness).
