The UMKC Institute for Human Development, University Center on Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) is an applied research and training center for human services designed to exemplify the University's goals of engaged scholarship and community partnerships. Its functions include interdisciplinary training, applied research, community program development and information dissemination.

Job Description

The University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) Institute for Human Development, Early Childhood Innovation Center (ECIC) is seeking Senior Research Assistants with applied research experience using quantitative, qualitative, and/or mixed approaches to research. The Senior Research Assistant is responsible for the following activities:

  • * Serve on research team and provide support to investigators
  • Assist other team members to formulate research questions
  • Manage, clean, and analyze data collected in quantitative databases and datasets
  • Assist in survey production
  • Assist in the collection of qualitative data in the form of interviews, focus groups, and analysis of feedback from stakeholders.
  • Participate in data cleaning, verification, and documentation of qualitative data.
  • Participate in the discussions about the coding, analysis, and theme development from qualitative data. Code data and produce analyses of those data.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts for public dissemination and publication
  • Other duties as assigned

These positions are full-time, benefit eligible, unranked academic positions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree required in the fields of education, psychology, data analytics, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated relevant training and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
  • Proficient in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience with study design and data collection (e.g., literature and document review, surveys, interviews, focus groups, cognitive mapping)
  • Experience with database building, maintenance, and management.
  • Experience with quantitative statistical analyses (e.g. comparison of means, ANOVA, linear regression, factor analysis) using statistical software (e.g. SPSS, R, etc.) and content analyses of qualitative data (using software e.g., Atlas-ti, Nvivo)
  • Experience with drafting reports or materials for research papers and/or presentations.
  • Planning, communication & organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and problem-solve.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed (approximately 5% per year).

Preferred qualifications

  • Proficiency with ArcGIS
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $55,000.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
