Embedded Firmware Engineer

Viking Enterprise Solutions, a division of Sanmina Corporation, is responsible for the design of high performance storage and server systems for the OEM/JDM marketplace. Due to our continued success and growth, VES has an opportunity for a Senior-level Electrical Design Engineer. Job Purpose: The Embedded Firmware Engineer is responsible for developing and sustaining embedded firmware/software for storage and storage server enclosure products.

Nature of Duties:

Primary responsibilities include sustaining support of our products in the field. The candidate, at times, may work directly with customers to resolve issues. The candidate will also interact with engineers and architects to clarify requirements analyze problems and perform maintenance on the code. The incumbent in this role must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Embedded Firmware Engineer must have strong problem solving and analysis skills along with strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience:

BS degree in Engineering or Computer Engineering / Science.

• 3 -5 years of experience in embedded software design and implementation
• Working knowledge and experience on embedded firmware development
• Strong C/C++ programming skills
• Understanding of the server/storage protocols such as SCSI, SAS, PCI-e, TCP/IP, SMB and I2C
• Competent in scripting languages, Python and Perl scripting
• Excellent working knowledge of various OS (Linux, Windows, Unix etc.)

• Good system Hardware/Software integration skills
• Strong communication skills interfacing with colleagues
• Experience in system level problem determination
• SAS Expander Development
• Skilled in the use of SAS Analyzers and I2C bus analyzers.

Salary range: $90,000 -110,000
