Description
SUMMARY: Works under the direction of the engineering manager to assist the mill in developing and implementing project and process improvements. The engineering intern will interact with the mill maintenance team, project engineer and process engineer to complete tasks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  1. Familiarity with the basic process stream for understanding of the paper mill as a whole


  2. Ability to learn mill sub-systems and cross reference "in-process" equipment with the P&ID


  3. Work with maintenance to update the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to include correct spare parts for systems as show on P&ID


  4. Work with mill operators as required to identify process components


  5. Work with mill operations to analyze data, make recommendations and coordinate process improvements

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • Working toward a Bachelor in Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Paper Science Engineering


  • Familiarity with statistical analysis


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe


  • Able to detail basic P&IDs


  • Good communication both verbal and written


  • Able to work in a fast paced environment and on multiple assignments at a time


  • Able to work effectively both individually and within groups

  • Able to work in hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment


  • Willingness and ability to work in confined spaces with heights
