To learn more about working at the SFPUC, visit our career site athttps://www.sfpuc.gov/about-us/careers-sfpuc Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the Director of Information Technology (IT) Portfolio Management will provide strategic oversight and direction for every technology project, change, and product to ensure continuous improvement to the End-user Experience. Information Technology Services (ITS) has a need for a leader to oversee the portfolio of projects and technology services for priorities that span across all Enterprises of Water/Wastewater/Power and SFPUC Bureaus. The leader of this team will help ensure the successful delivery of complex, multi-faceted projects involving internal/external resources, cross-functional teams, and a variety of project funding sources. The Director of Information Technology (IT) Portfolio Management will also work with customers to identify requirement gaps, develop prototypes, and partner on accessibility, equity, and Generative AI impacts. A key success for this role will be the ability to build relationships in ITS, across SFPUC and throughout the city. This person will oversee $5+ million dollars of IT project and portfolio work. Essential Functions:
The 0941 Manager VI (Director of Information Technology (IT) Portfolio Management) will perform other related duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation: Possession of a baccalaureate degreefrom an accredited university or collegeAND Experience:Five (5) years of experience managing/supervising IT staff all of which must include supervisory. Education Substitution:Additional years of qualifying experience as listed above may substitute for up to two years of the required degree on a year for year basis.One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications. Supplemental Questionnaire Examination (Weight 100%) The Supplemental Questionnaire is an exam and contents will be evaluated and scored. The Supplemental Questionnaire Exam is to evaluate the experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that candidates possess in job-related areaswhich have been identified as critical for this position and include, but are not limited to:
Passing Score:Candidates must obtain a passing score on the Supplemental Questionnaire in order to be placed on the score report for positions in this job class. Notices to Candidates:Qualified candidates will be sent notices via email for completion prior to the creation of the score report ("eligible list"). Each notice will include the date by which responses must be received. Failure to complete these steps by the established deadlines will result in disqualification. Certification:The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be Rule of the List. Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions. Eligible List/Score Report:A confidential eligible list of applicant names that have passed the civil service examination process will be created and used for certification purposes only. An examination score report will be established, so applicants can view the ranks, final scores and number of eligible candidates. Applicant information, including names of applicants on the eligible list, shall not be made public unless required by law. However, an eligible list shall be made available for public inspection, upon request, once the eligible list is exhausted or expired and referrals resolved. The eligible list/score report resulting from this civil service examination process is subject to change after adoption (e.g., as a result of appeals), as directed by the Human Resources Director or the Civil Service Commission. The duration of the eligible list resulting from this examination process will be oftwelve (12) monthsand may be extended with the approval of the Human Resources Director.
