Job Overview

The Automation Solutions department creates cutting edge, custom automation equipment for deployment across Hubbell's enterprise wide manufacturing locations. The Sr. Electrical Automation Engineer is primarily responsible for success engineering, programming and project management of all the electrical and controls aspects of custom automation equipment. Overseeing and approving all the electrical and controls designs and drawings. Able to fluently program a wide range of controls such as; PLCs, HMIs, Robots, Vision Systems, Servos, etc. Responsible for creating and evaluating concept designs that meet or exceed project specifications. Engineering the concepts into functional electrical designs, coordinating with a team of technicians and/or engineers, collaborating with mechanical engineers to create the electrical design, communication with management, maintaining timelines, selecting automation components, overseeing the build, troubleshooting, writing manuals, organization, service calls, overseeing the building process, troubleshooting, debugging, re-designing as needed, and other related tasks.

A Day In The Life

  • Work with the Hubbell automation team to develop or refine product and equipment designs.
  • Involved with creating drawings and schematics for electrical installations.
  • Generate detailed Statement of Work documents for internal approval.
  • Design and programming of total automation control systems using AutoCad/AutoCad Electrical, and programming software. Control systems generally will include Rockwell Compact Guard Logix PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor controls, Robots, safety system and components, and supporting sensors and pneumatics.


What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent 4 year degree, or higher
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Fluent with programming many automation components
  • Proficient with CAD
  • Experience with project management
  • Proficient and professional communication skill
  • Experienced with automation components; motors, servos, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, cams, hydraulics, pneumatics and other devices.
