Job Overview

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for all Shipping Office functions and providing support to management

Schedule: 6:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Prepare shipment documentation for outbound material and verify appropriate signatures from carrier agents.

* Sort, distribute, and monitor progress of shipments released for picking.

* Schedule the pickup of completed shipments with various carriers.

* Coordinate with the shift supervisor the priority of orders to pick as they are released to the floor.

* Maintain files and records of shipments.

* Communicate with Load planners, other departments, and carriers regarding shipments.

* Investigate PPI's (customer reported errors) via physical inventory counts and system adjustments.

* Interact with the Inventory Control Clerk, Supervisor, and Manager to address/resolve all issues.

* File and follow up on Freight Claims with carriers as necessary.

* Various other duties as assigned

A Day In The Life

  • Receive product to purchase orders
  • Process receipts within 24 hours
  • Maintain files and records of receipts in an organized manner
  • Communicate with other departments, truck lines and vendors regarding receipts
  • Process returned materials from customers (RMA's)
  • Operate RF equipment in the DC
  • Sort and re-stack product as necessary
  • Prepare shipment documentation for outbound material and verify appropriate signatures from carrier agents
  • Schedule the pickup of completed trailers with various carriers
  • Maintain files and records of shipments
  • Communicate with other departments, carriers regarding shipments
  • Investigate PPI's and report the findings to supervisors as well as maintaining a database of results
  • File Claims with carriers
  • Use of Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Various other assigned administrative duties
