Overview: The Pediatric Genetic Counselor (GC) will work with a team of GCs and medical geneticists to provide genetic counseling services to families and individuals with genetic disorders. Under the supervision of the Medical Geneticist, the genetic counselor will obtain patients' medical and family histories and provide genetic counseling, resources and psychosocial support. The GC will be responsible for the organizing and coordinating multidisciplinary/specialty clinic(s) serving individuals with complex genetic disorders. They will also have the option to serve as clinical supervisor for genetic counseling students. They will educate non-genetics health care providers about genetic counseling, testing and interpretation of results. They will be invited to participate in ongoing and new clinical research endeavors, including contributions to publications of case reports and research studies.
