The Clinical Overnight pharmacist provides patient-centered clinical services to the inpatient units with focus on providing specialized services to the critical care and step-down units. This position must: provide pharmaceutical care to patients to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes; promote cost-effective drug therapy; promote cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building; assist with verification and dispensing of medication orders; provide assistance in educating other health care professionals in regards to pharmacotherapy; participate in drug therapy management in emergency situations; assist in developing and implementing treatment protocols in order to improve patient care. This person must possess the ability to work independently, demonstrate a positive attitude, have a strong commitment to teamwork and customer service as well as strive to consistently improve patient care by working as a cohesive critical care pharmacy team to achieve goals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: *Bedside response including: Code events, stroke and STEMI alerts *Pharmacokinetic Consult Services (vancomycin, aminoglycosides, digoxin, etc) *Response to drug information questions for inpatient units and transitional care hospital *Practices pharmacy in accordance with regulations *Order verification and dispensing of medication orders *In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned Experience: Pharmacy residency desired, but clinical experience considered.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's Degree required Experience: No experience required Licensure: Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy License required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull < 20lbs. May be exposed to chemicals.
