This position is part of our Advanced Safety and User Experience segment (AS&UX) and is located in Troy, Michigan.

Summary:

The Senior Global Account Manager is responsible for new business growth as well as growth and value creation for existing customers. Responsible for contributing to commercial aspects in identifying, quoting, and winning new business, while increasing the size of the opportunity space with customer portfolio. This person will contribute to the critical sales elements - including but not limited to customer strategy, price management, stakeholder relationship management internally and externally and sales cycle

Responsibilities:

  • Customer Strategy: understanding and influencing what drives economic value for the customer
  • Aptiv Strategy: understanding what drives economic value -profitability for Aptiv, Enterprise & Divisional
  • Managing all product line account activities to retain existing business and develop and execute a strategy to capture future global business potential in NA, EU and AP
  • Detailed understanding of internal and external customer process, priorities , and schedules related to pursuit opportunities
  • Win profitable new business: targeting, project summary, negotiation for Active Safety and User Experience
  • Manage pre-launch profitability: maintain oversight of BOM and design costs; manage customer pricing on changes / deviations to original quote; manage customer pricing proactively request Aptiv wider organization involvement to address issues
  • Manage ongoing product profitability: budget, negotiate & manage customer price management profitability; request organization to create long-term cost out maps; address leakers and bleeders
  • Provide accurate volume forecasts that takes into consideration customer data and market/economic cycle data
  • Customer coordination & management: coordinate technology showcases; coordinate terms & strategic initiatives, manage the network linking the customer team
  • Establish proactive communication and relationship with customer to promote confidence and trust
  • Create and maintain customer response mechanisms which in the event of issues arising complement local and/or single Product Line processes
  • Ensure Aptiv maximizes its content per vehicle by supporting robust multi-product battle plans;
  • Ensure customer demands are managed through the appropriate Aptiv processes such that all responses are made within and consistent with Aptiv commercial policy
  • Create and drive deployment of strategic plan for customer through the operation of customer team and interaction with all relevant Aptiv functions. Regularly report on progress to strategic goals and act to correct deviation/shortfall
  • Understanding price point for Aptiv products; develop & maintain pricing and cost models
  • Ability to lead and establish firm quote offers to customers; provide cost breakdown
  • Ability to follow a cadence in account pricing reviews; negotiate price; bringing sales to closure
  • Deliver booking plan for product line and segment
  • Ability to be an effective business partner within a matrix, global organization; establishing credibility and trusted partnership within the Divisions & Functions
  • Seeking opportunities for MCIP and profit improvement
  • Drive internal customer pipeline review - balance customer requests with current business conditions and investment priorities to meet annual sales plans
  • Develop plan for customer sales meetings. Define goals for each stage within the sales cycle, including the possible concessions
  • Organize and coordinate senior Aptiv executives on customer visits as required
  • Is accountable for customer profitability and revenue growth in the product line

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years' experience in Sales/Product sales within Automotive Industry
  • Bachelor's Degree (Sales, Engineering, Finance or related fields)
  • Proven track record of developing new sales opportunities and closing negotiations
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and establish a high degree of trust at all organizational levels
  • Decision making ability with sound business acumen and clear understanding of the market and financial impact
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (oral and written) and ability to present to both internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven specific Ford customer expertise or product expertise in Active Safety and/or User Experience.
  • Extensive experience in leading a global sales team in manufacturing or technology industry
  • Track record in establishing global customer strategies and increasing revenue/growth
  • Proven experience in building sales team capabilities
