Job Summary:

Globalstar is looking for a software developer to join a team that develops and maintains software that monitors and controls ground assets such as parabolic dish antennas and other satellite operations metrics. The software developer will be an integral team member throughout the development life cycle by working with engineering and operations analysts to evaluate issues, develop new software solutions, implement processes, and support existing applications.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Develop, support and maintain Java and Python applications related to satellite telecommunications system infrastructure
  • Work on system architecture changes to use micro-services and highly available systems
  • Investigate reported issues and create hotfixes when necessary
  • Work with the cross-functional project teams to develop requirements
  • Review and test code developed by other team members and off-site contractors
  • Follow the established Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards
  • Implement Continuous Integration initiatives using Git, Bamboo/Jenkins, Jira and other tools for version control, automated tests and deployment

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:



  • Bachelor's or higher degree program of Computer Science, Information Systems or Computer Engineering
  • Proficient in Python and Java
  • Proficient with Linux systems
  • Familiarity with writing software applications that interact with relational databases and SQL
  • Familiarity with RESTful service design
  • Knowledge of multi-threading and distributed container-based applications
  • Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery and Continuous Deployment concepts
  • Experience writing software that interacts with physical equipment such as steerable antennas, motor controllers, RF equipment, or serial / Modbus RTU is preferred


Physical Requirements:



  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
  • Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
