The Trading Analytics team collects fundamental information for generation resources and load demand for electricity, natural gas and other commodities related to the bulk electricity market that impact the operation of PGE's portfolio of assets; conducts market sector or statistical analysis and interprets key market data elements into useful trading information. Performs modeling and communicates with traders as well as external stakeholders. Performs analysis on data sets that may require scripts, codes, languages, etc.

In this role you will be accountable for the performance and results of a team of senior analysts which includes planning and prioritizing competing requests to meet tight deadlines with the teams capabilities and bandwidth. This managers operates with moderate guidance from the Senior Director of Power Operations. At times, this manager will also need to step in and perform the function of an individual contributor to address urgent needs to move the business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

Manager, Quantitative Analysis is responsible for managing the following areas of technical support:

* Analysts responsible for analyzing trends, build forecast based on fundamentals of wind, solar, hydro and load as well as interfacing with internal stakeholders for ad hoc analysis and external stakeholders as subject matter expert on recommendations and actions taken

* Analysts who provide quantitative analysis evaluating risk, opportunities and strategies based on option pricing theories.

This manager will provide oversight and support by:

* Sets priorities and goals for trading analysts

* Serve as the team's liaison with PGE's Power Operations IT, Risk, Financial Forecasting and Transmission Services teams to ensure alignment and coordination

* Resourcing Oversees resourcing decisions and planning for team; partners with HR in the definition of jobs, recruitment, evaluation and selection processes.

* Reviews organizational development for the team to support their on going development; monitors ongoing progress and provides coaching and mentoring and provides feedback; completes annual performance management reviews.

Education/Experience/Certifications Education

* Requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field, e.g., engineering, physics, mathematics, finance, economics or computer programming; a master's degree is desirable or equivalent experience.

* Experience Prefer eight or more years in some combination of trading, structuring, research, analysis, engineering, programming, design and/or modeling.

* Knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets, including trading, scheduling procedures, state and federal policies and regulations and underlying physical infrastructure and networks.

* Knowledge of traded commodity markets like electric bulk power generation, natural gas, transmission and other commodity markets that impact the cost of electricity.

* Advanced knowledge of wholesale electric, gas and other commodities' market fundamentals, including equilibrium pricing principles. Advanced knowledge of commodities in energy market derivatives (e.g., forwards, options, swaps), including market pricing and valuation principles.

* Advanced knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, VB/VBA, C, Python or Matlab.

* Advanced computer skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and analytics programs.

* Basic knowledge of regulated utility accounting principles.

* Advanced knowledge of learning technologies.

* Advanced knowledge of industry best practices.

* Advanced mathematical and analytical skills, including calculus, linear algebra, mixed integer programming, probability and multivariate statistics, real analysis, numerical analysis and operations research.

* Advanced ability to think across multiple functional areas, e.g., Power Operations, Balancing Authority, Generation and Rates and Regulatory impacts.

Environment- Indoor:

* Office - Hybrid - 3 days per week in office

Compensation Range:

$125,790.00 - $233,610.00

Actual total compensation, including a performance based incentive bonus, is commensurate with experience, skills, qualifications, education, training, and internal equity. While we anticipate the selected candidate for this position will fall towards the middle or entry point of the compensation range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
