Summary:

The Intern role provides administrative and project support within assigned department, while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in a healthcare environment.

The Security Services Department is responsible to safeguard people, property, assets and the interests of MaineHealth. The department is comprised of 200+ members with a corporate headquarters in Westbrook, ME and a security presence at all hospitals within the system (and selective other locations). The team is responsible for 15 sub-elements that comprise a corporate security program and is primarily oriented on reducing workplace violence and its effects.

Intern projects may include:

  • Contributing to Threat Assessments and implementing mitigating measures when a person expresses or an explicit threat to people or places within MaineHealth.
  • Contributing to Risk Assessments of various physical locations employee methods of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design and other industry practices.

Preference will be given to a graduate student pursuingPsychology, Criminal Justice, or Applied Intelligence; but any area of study is welcome if the person has an interest in corporate or public sector security.

  1. Education: Student who is currently enrolled in a two-year Associate's Degree program, Bachelor's Degree program, or graduate-level program preferred.
